CUSACK, Vincent Burfield. On December 18, Vincent called stumps on a stylish innings, bowled out on 85. An all-rounder with considerable flair, Vincent started his sporting career in Otago before creating some of the finest pitches across Canterbury. His highlights included a 68-year stand in men’s hairdressing and a captaincy role in helping others to step up to the crease. He also set a 62-year partnership with Grace and welcomed Martine and Stephen and Darin and Louisa to the crease, with grandchildren Luke and Romy entering down the batting order. Among the wider touring party were the Dalziel, Burns, and McLeod families, who all made significant contributions to the total. Vincent finally returned to the pavilion after a long and dedicated innings. In lieu of flowers, donations to Dementia Canterbury would be appreciated and can be made at the service or online at bit.ly/vbcusack1812. Messages to the Cusack family may be sent c/- P O Box 111-01, Sockburn, Christchurch 8443. A Memorial Service for Vincent will be held in the Christ’s College Chapel, Rolleston Avenue, Christchurch, on Friday, January 13, 2023. Play gets under way at 1.30pm.
