WING, Diana Pendry (Nee Webb):
Passed away on Thursday, January 3, 2019, just past 5am surrounded by love and family in care of Merivale’s Nurse Maud Hospice. Diana began her vivacious life in Southampton (UK) on July 3, 1938 to parents Clara Elizabeth and Harold Alfred Webb. In her 80 years she built a family full of love and laughter. She is survived by her husband Charles (aka Chas) and their four children; Yvonne (Wing-Gilmore), Penny (de Jong), Terry (Nash) and David (Wing), and eight grandchildren; Tamzin, Phillip, Kirsty, Shannon, Natasha, Alastair, Beverley and Abigael, and her great grandchild Tristan. Her life touched many hearts across the globe, immigrating from the UK to South Africa in her 30’s and to New Zealand in her 60’s. Blonde, vivacious and with a wicked sense of humour she made friends wherever she went; most recently within her Friendship Group and as a key part of the Quilters guild. A talented, innovative woman she thrived as an entrepreneur- a Hairdresser, Dog Groomer, Bank Officer, Bernina shop owner and created beautiful art throughout her life. She applied her vast intelligence (which sometimes got her in trouble!) to her art, which is manifest in the intricate designs of her quilts. Our Dragon is released from this world, she now once more skates and dances on light feet. She will be forever remembered and forever loved. Messages may be addressed to the Wing family C/- 19 London Street, Christchurch 8013.
In lieu of flowers donations to Nurse Maude Hospice would be appreciated.
A Requiem Mass for Diana will be celebrated at St Teresa’s Catholic Church, 8 Puriri Street, Riccarton, on Tuesday, January 8, at 10:00am.
